EMS ASSISTANT PROJECT MANAGER
Program: Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (METRO)
Positions: One (1), Part Time
Wage: $52.00 per hour, 1024 hours per year
We are currently looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our LA Metro Sustainability Program Assistant Services team. This position will be working closely with the LA Metro Environmental Compliance and Sustainability Section (ECSS), on a daily basis. Environmental Management Systems (EMS) is a management approach that enables an organization to identify, monitor and control its environmental aspects. An EMS is part of the overall management system that includes organizational structure, planning activities, responsibilities, practices, procedures, processes and resources for developing, implementing, achieving, reviewing and maintaining the environmental policy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as Implementation Coordinator for up to six client locations across the Los Angeles service area. Facility EMS support includes scheduling and attending facility bi-‐monthly EMS Core Team meetings preparing and distributing meeting announcements, documenting and distributing meeting notes, maintaining and updating facility-‐specific EMS records in both electronic and hard copy format, and program monitoring and measurement.
Assist with the development of EMS communications media content (video, surveys, educational campaigns) as well as training materials, pocket guides, posters, banners, signs, developing support materials. Address other tasks and activities, as directed by Metro’s ECSS staff for the continual improvement of the program, including but not limited to studies, surveys, samplings, and research.
Continual review of Metro’s compliance obligations and ensuring that all legal & other requirements associated with the environmental aspects of Metro’s activities, products and services are identified and updated. Assist with establishment, development and implementation of operational controls (SOPs, Action Plans, guidelines, flow diagrams) associated with significant environmental aspects.
Audit Support for Internal and Third Party Surveillance Audit by DQS. Review of the monitoring and measurement to determine that objectives and targets are being met; Discussions with personnel to determine if they know and follow EMS procedures; Review of regulatory compliance auditing procedure to ensure that it is assessing the status of regulatory compliance, identifying corrective and preventive actions and that those actions are being completed; Specific attention is given to corrective actions for audit findings from previous audits.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree – Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, or related field
• ISO 14001:2015 Internal or Lead Auditor Certification preferred
• Minimum of 3 years’ project management experience
• Knowledge and understanding of the development and implementation of environmental management system
