IT PROGRAM MANAGER I – PROJECT MANAGER – AUDIO VISUAL/CLASSROOM SYSTEMS
Client / Program: Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), PMO – District-wide
Salary Range: $130.8K to $153.9K annual base salary, depending upon experience
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Audio Visual/IT Project Manager – is a technical representative, charged with addressing the technology and AV needs of bond funded construction projects. This position will serve as a dedicated point of contact providing constant interactions with Program Management Office (PMO), District representatives, College IT managers/staff, College Facilities mangers/staff, College Sheriff’s Department, architect/design team, building contractors, systems installers, and vendors to ensure design and functional requirements are met. The AV/IT Project Manager will respond to all of Audio/Visual technology requirements to provide the PMO with the necessary support to successfully deliver projects on time and on budget. The AV/IT Project Manager will identify, analyze, and resolve/troubleshoot design/construction problems, managing and coordinating the implementation of complex AV projects, including but not limited to:
- Districtwide Smart Classroom Standards
- Smart Classroom Upgrades
- Distance Learning/Distance Education Deployments
- Conference Room Upgrades
- Lecture Hall Upgrades
- Computer Lab Upgrades
- Digital Signage Deployments
- Video Conferencing/Collaboration Deployments
- Transition classrooms from traditional AV controls to IP based controls
- PoE lighting implementations

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Successfully manage and execute 5 to 10 projects simultaneously, ranging in value and complexity from $1M to $25M each
- Documents and reports all project data accurately and in a timely manner
- Develop scopes of work in both written and design drawing format
- Develop detailed meeting minutes and assign action items to project team members
- Develop conceptual audio visual drawings
- Review existing audio visual drawings and make recommendations for improvement
- Successfully deliver audio visual projects on schedule and within budget
- Follow and successfully execute program Quality Management System
- Report and collaborate with Program Management Office on all IT project matters
- Develop detailed technical scopes of work to support AV and IT projects
- Assist with development of District and Campus AV standards
- Perform Quality Assurance on Security Designs in Schematic, Design, Construction, and DSA Drawings.
- Evaluate vendor/contractor’s job performance with compliance with scope documents. Review and evaluate IT project submittals.
- Track and report on all project status and provide management reports to client as required.
- Assist with change order review and evaluation with Construction Project Manager and Cost Estimators.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and report performance of AV projects to include cost and schedule
- Identify risk and create risk mitigation plans successfully
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) Certification
- 3-5 years of experience in Management of multiple AV/IT projects; experience within a capital improvement programs and familiarity with relevant codes and standards
- Demonstrated Community College Experience
- Demonstrated Experience with DSA (Division of the State Architect)
- Demonstrated experience with Utelogy and Extron
- Bachelor of Science Degree (may be substituted for recent and relevant experience)
- Experience managing multiple AV projects with differing complexities and size
- Experience in the integration AV systems within construction environments
- Experience developing AV standards
- Detailed involvement of all parts of the project life cycle, include planning, design and closeout in regards to AV
- Familiarity with TIA/EIA Industry Standards
- Familiarity with performing markups on drawings in software such as Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam
- Familiarity with developing technical architecture diagrams in software such as MS Visio or PowerPoint
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Infocomm or PMO Certification
- Demonstrated experience with Crestron and AMX Systems
- Demonstrated experience with IP AV controls systems
- Experience in developing RFQ/RFP packages
- Familiarity with developing project schedule in software such as MS Project or P6
- Experience in Design-Build projects
- Experience in Public Works projects
- Familiarity with bidding and contracting process, and with programs that utilize public funds
- Experience facilitating and coordinating end user training sessions
