MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Program:                             Los Angeles Unified School District – Maintenance & Operations- A/E
Number of Positions:      One (1)
Salary Range:                     $119.3K to $140.4K annual base salary plus benefits

DUTIES:

• Provide mechanical design services and CAD support
• Perform load calculations on existing and future spaces to determine appropriate HVAC and plumbing equipment sizing
• Make recommendations, consult with, and give technical direction to commissioned architects, consulting mechanical engineers, and District construction inspectors
• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of mechanical engineering standards and specifications
• Support in developing District mechanical engineering policies and guidelines
• Perform field research and create report related to mechanical systems, components, and existing installation; provide recommendations to remedy critical problems
• Review Requests for Clarifications (RFC) for both pre-bid phase and actual construction
• Assist in providing technical direction to lower-level staff in the Mechanical Engineering Unit
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 8 years full time paid professional experience in similar or equivalent position involved in managing the mechanical aspects in commercial and/or public or educational facility construction projects
• Valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Mechanical Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration of Civil and Professional Engineers is preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
