Program: Los Angeles Unified School District – M&O Sustainability Projects
Salary Range: $120K to $135K annual

DUTIES:
Responsible for advising contractors and district staff on energy conservation project issues and provides technical supervision to inspectors on work as part of the retro-commissioning process
Manages and coordinates project team, District staff, and contractors in communicating directives and ensuring the project scope is built according to plans, specifications, and cost limits
Advises, consults with, and gives technical direction to commissioned architects, structural engineers, and their consulting mechanical engineers on District policies and guidelines for the design of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, piping, refrigeration, fire sprinkler and other mechanical systems in the commission and retro-commissioning of new buildings
Plans, organizes, directs and reports project management activities and progress to Sustainability and Maintenance and Operations management
Reviews drawings and specifications submitted by commissioned or consulting mechanical engineer or vendors for conformance to District policies and guidelines, and for possible conflict with other architectural and engineering features and requests necessary revisions
Advises contractors, commissioned architects and engineers and District staff on mechanical engineering issues encountered during construction phase of energy related projects
Provides technical direction to personnel of the Sustainability Program Manager in the preparation of mechanical designs, specifications, and cost estimates of energy related projects
Performs day-to-day contract administration including assisting the Senior Project Manager and the Sustainability Specialist in the bid analysis, pre-construction meetings and related award coordinating activities
Manages, oversees, and coordinates all facets of the construction phase of an energy efficiency project including mobilization, construction, and close-out
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 12 years of experience in the Project/Construction Management of Commercial and/or Public/Educational Facility construction with full responsibility for coordinating complex projects with construction values in excess of $25M
Additional Preferred Experience:
Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and/or Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) projects
Experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes
Experience with managing Energy Efficient or Renewable Energy projects
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a BA or BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Preferred Licenses and Certificates:
A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or
Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
A valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute
