Program: Los Angeles Unified School District – M&O Sustainability Projects
Salary Range: $155K to $180K annual

DUTIES:

  • Prepares and provides project descriptions, definitions, and specifications for contract architects or other contractors and District architectural , engineering, or maintenance personnel, on energy efficient projects
  • Gather & analyze data to prepare energy project budgets and maintain responsibility for fiscal controls and cost management
  • Analyze and evaluate allowable requests for funding of projects outside the program’s primary scope of work
  • Develop a master project plan that includes health and safety concerns; the effects of the interruption on the education process, and cost effectiveness
  • Prepare, review, and evaluate project schedules, scope, and budgets and determine the action necessary to resolve problems
  • Assigns project managers to energy projects; monitors and supervises project management and staff activities and evaluates their performance
  • May review for approval change orders, requests for clarification, inspection reports, punch lists, non confirmation reports, fire alarm systems, permits, scope changes, and DSA reviews
  • Resolve complex project related issues, disputes, and disagreements
  • Provides managerial and construction oversight to project managers and staff
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Fifteen years of project/construction management experience, particularly in managing energy efficient projects
  • General supervision is received from the Director of Maintenance and Operations or other higher level administrator. General supervision is exercised over technical employees and project management staff involved with projects
  • Additional Preferred Experience:

  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience with LEED and/or Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) projects
  • Experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes
  • Experience with construction management
  • REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with a BA or BS in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management, or related field.
  • Additional courses in Business Administration, Public Relations, Accounting, School Finance, Personnel Management, Educational Facilities Planning, and Communication are preferable.
  • Preferred Licenses and Certificates:

  • A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
  • LEED AP credential
  • CCM Certification
