SPATIAL DATA ADMINISTRATOR
Program: Los Angeles Unified School District – Project Execution
Positions: One (1)
Salary: $87.5K to $103.0K annual, depending upon experience

OVERVIEW
The Spatial Data Administrator (SDA) will work within the Facilities Technology Services team building and maintaining the technology infrastructure that supports the spatial data repositories and applications related to K-12 facilities management.
SDA should be skilled in ArcGIS Server administration including, but not limited to, installation, administration, technical support, documentation and database development. Ability to use technical problem solving techniques to address a variety of hardware and software issues. Ability to quickly understand particular business functional area/areas and the appropriate GIS applications. Skilled in managing time and multiple tasks.
The role includes the development and design of databases, monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements. Occasionally, may also assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of security measures to safeguard the spatial database. The duties will also include disaster recovery (backups and testing of backups), performance analysis and tuning, data dictionary maintenance, and database design.

DUTIES:
• Responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of ArcGIS infrastructure
• Assists System Administrator and DBA in installation, configuration, integration, testing, and maintenance of hardware and software supporting the Fixed Asset Database
• Assists system administrator in the administration of security and permissions
• Provides analysis and makes recommendations related to performance and efficiency of data storage
• Proactively monitors systems for optimum performance and capacity constraints
• Troubleshoots and provides solutions for hardware and software issues related to spatial data infrastructure
• Supports the administration of existing enterprise databases and analysis, design, and creation of new databases
• Assists in data modeling, database optimization and implementation of schemas
• Ensures that data modeling is consistent with spatial data strategy
• Performs data analysis and provides recommendations on database design
• Coordinates both in and outside department to configure and maintain web-based and mobile GIS applications
• Ensures data quality is consistently maintained
• Designs and develops tools for displaying or retrieving GIS information from relational databases using modern database utilities
• Assists in the development of strategies for integrating GIS with other existing databases and applications
• Develops automated programs to make routine database maintenance procedures more efficient
• Assists in documentation and maintenance of metadata dictionary
• Designs and develops spatial queries to evaluate existing data and cross correlate data from variety of sources.
• Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• 2 years full time paid professional experience working with ArcGIS Server and other ESRI GIS technologies
• 2 years full time paid professional experience managing GIS technology projects
• 2 years full time professional experience developing and managing actively used spatial databases

Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge in scripting and programming for data management purposes for process development
• Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE services, installation/configuration of ArcSDE services on Oracle RDBMS and ArcGIS desktop applications
• Experience working with and performing data conversions between AutoCAD and ArcGIS data types
• Knowledge of Oracle Spatial 10g/11g databases and functions related to geometry (SDO)
• Ability to interpret, develop, analyze and tune complex Structured Query Language (SQL) queries particularly those relating to geometries
• Skilled in RDBMS routine monitoring and administration tools
• Knowledge of programming languages (I.e. HTML, XML, JavaScript,etc.) and SDKs as it relates to GIS applications
• Knowledge of GIS theories and practices; principles and practices of enterprise information
• Skilled in designing and implementing large (enterprise) geospatial systems, working with enterprise architectures/solutions using, but not limited to, Environmental Systems Research institute (ESRI) products e.g. SAFE software products

Required Education:
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and/or Mathematics
